George G. Bell pitched for the JAGS (Johnstown, Amsterdam, Gloversville) in Upstate NY. Later he became an outstanding righthanded pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1907 to 1911.

During the 1930s he owned and operated the Bell Hunting Lodge on Harrisburg Road in Stony Creek, Warren County, NY. While there he continued his love of baseball as umpire for the "Incredible Stony Creek Baseball Team."

In 1988 he was inducted into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame in Wellsboro, PA.

George was originally interred in the Luzerne Cemetery, Lake Luzerne, Saratoga Co., NY. Around 1962 he was disinterred and laid to rest next to his wife, Claudia, in Lakeland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
