Mattie Forehand Halsey, 80, of #1 Stratford Road, Edenton, died June 22 at Chowan Hospital.
A native of Tyner, she was the daughter of the late Peter M. Forehand and Susie Elberta Speight, and the wife of Isaac Elsworth "Mutt" Halsey Jr. of Edenton.
Mrs. Halsey was a retired clerk for Cuthrell's Department Store and a member of the Beech Fork Extension Homemakers Club. She was also a member of the Edenton Baptist Church, where she attended the Georgia Carroll Sunday School Class.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Halsey is survived by two daughters, Pearl H. Barber of Winfall and Peggy H. Ginnings of Raleigh; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 25, in the Williford Barham Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Kenneth Word and the Rev. Frankie Halsey. Burial followed in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edgar Halsey, Joe Lee, Robert Halsey, Bob Spies, Kenneth Worell and Ed Parker.
Memorial donations may be made to the Edenton Baptist Church, 206 South Granville Street, Edenton, N.C. 27932.
Williford-Barham Funeral Home of Edenton was in charge of arrangements.
