Mark was born on 2 Sep. 1961 in Bayonne, New Jersey to Frank Broderick and Mary M.McCawley. Growing up in Bayonne he and his brother Kevin swam on the YMCA team coached by their father Frank. Summers for the brothers and their sister, Lois were spent at the family vacation home in the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Township, New Jersey. While attending Marist High School in Bayonne, Mark considered a career with the state police and spent a week as a cadet with the troopers. He also swam for Marist High School swim team and his dad Frank was his coach. Mark graduated from St.John's University in Staten Island, New York and was also a member of Sigma Chi Upsilon Fraternity. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a Certified Public Accountant. Mark met his wife, Caroina while they were both employed at Financial Firms in Lower Manhattan. They both were working in the Financial District in 1993 when terrorists bombed the World Trade Center. They were married in 1993 and had three sons, Matthew (b)1994, Andrew (b) 1999 and James (b) July 2000.He coached Matthew's basketball team at St Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Old Bridge, New Jersey as well as Matthew's Little League Team.He was also the treasurer for the Little League. Mark, who had turned 40 on 2 Sept. 2001, decided the best way to celebrate was with a family trip to Hershey Park, Penn., which turned out to be the last family trip taken. In April 2001, Mark took a job in the Financial Report Department at Cantor, Fitzgerald and began working in the Twin Towers. Moments after the first plane hit the north tower, his wife, Carolina called her husband. "I have to get out" she recalled him saying , but it never happened. Mark made a habit of spending his weekends with his family because work left him little time during the week to be his wife and young sons. His friends nicknamed him "Sparky" because he took his time getting to places, whenever he got there he would say that he was right on time. Family members also called him "Disco Danny" for his long affinity to that music. In addition to his wife, Carolina and his three sons, he is survived by his father, Francis (Frank) R.Broderick, his sister Lois (Richard) Margeson, his brother Kevin (Joanne) Broderick and nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Amy, Kelly, Colleen and Richard. A memorial service for Mark was held at 10 A.M.on 30 Oct. 2001 at St Ambrose Church on Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge, New Jersey, followed by interment at Saint Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro, New Jersey.
