Howard Wilton Davis, 61, died Nov. 24, 2010, at his residence in Vilano Beach, Fla.
Howard was born in St. Augustine and was a lifelong resident of this town that he loved so dearly. Howard was a graduate of St. Augustine High Class of 1967, and the University of Florida, where he received his degree in architecture. He was a proud member of the American Institute of Architects and oversaw the design and restoration of numerous buildings throughout the city of St. Augustine and Northeast Florida.
Howard considered preserving the architectural posterity of St. Augustine to be one of his most important endeavors. Among his notable accomplishments are the restorations of the Casa Monica Hotel, the St. Augustine Lightkeeper"s House, the First Union Bank Building, the original St. Augustine Record Building, the St. Johns County School Board Building and the Department of Military Affairs Headquarters on Marine Street. His design work also included numerous schools and churches for the Catholic Diocese and the St. Augustine School Board.
Howard was a steward of the community and member in good standing of the Catholic Church. He is survived by his three sons, his two daughters, his two sisters,and his three grandchildren.
A memorial service for Howard was held at 12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at the Cathedral-Basilica in downtown St. Augustine.

Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
