Funeral for Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Akridge, Rt. 1, Troy , will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Temple, the Rev. Grady Metcalf officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Akridge were killed about 12:15 p.m. Friday in a collision involving a truck and two cars at the intersection of North General Bruce Drive and North 15th Street.
Mr. Akridge was born in Hart County, Kentucky and moved to Texas in 1900, settling in the Belfalls community. Mrs. Akridge was born in Bell County. She was the former Miss Lucye Hargrove. Mr. and Mrs. Akridge were married October 11, 1908 in Bell County. Both were life-long members of the Baptist Church. Mr. Akridge served as a deacon for more than 50 years.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Akridge will be Hull Hargrove, Floyd Hargrove, Cliff Hargrove, James Hargrove, Harold Hargrove, and Thomas Davis.
Pallbearers for Mr. Akridge will be W.W. Newman, Gary Newman, Neal Akridge, Oscar Karl, Danny Powell, and Guyle Akridge Jr.
