Ben will be remembered by those who knew him best for his intelligence, wit and the quiet, gentle loving way in which he faithfully cared for his parents, maternal aunt, and sister-in-law during their extended illnesses. Ben loved to travel and "poked around Europe" for thee months and later traversed the lower 48 states with, Betty, his canine companion of 17 years; his love for the Lake of Egypt and knowledge of the back roads of Southern Illinois was exceptional. Ben loved classical music and frequented symphony halls in Chicago, Ravinia, St. Louis, Memphis, and elsewhere. Ben read history, autobiographies, and novels regularly, and enjoyed conducting, on the road, family genealogy searches.

Visitation and a Memorial service for Ben will be held at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois this Saturday the 25th beginning at 1:00 p.m. Internment of his ashes at Tower Heights Cemetery will be done privately at a later time.

In Lieu of flowers those who wish may make a contribution to the Mid South Multiple Sclerosis Society, Brentwood, Tennessee, Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.) Anna, Illinois, the Frankfort Area Historical Museum, West Frankfort, Illinois, or a charity of their choosing.
