PELAHATCHIE-Services for Troy L. King, 86, who died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, were held Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Rehobeth Baptist Church in Pelahatchie with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Ted Dukes and R.C. Rice officiated. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. King was born on April 24, 1918 to William and Bertha Walsh King of the Leesburg community where he lived all his life. Mr. King owned and operated a dairy farm for most of his life, after retiring from the dairy business he became manager of Dairyman, Inc. of Mississippi where he worked for 10 years prior to retiring. He was a 1948 graduate of Mississippi State University. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. King was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church and was active in his church, serving in numerous capacities including chairman of deacons, adult Sunday school leader and chairman of the Rehobeth Cemetery Fund.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Estelle Slade King; two brothers, W.C. King and Vernon H. King; and one sister, Doris King Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Fay King of Pelahatchie; one daughter, Joan King Hood and her husband, Johnny, both of Jackson; three sons, Derwin King and his wife, Pam, both of Jackson, Tenn., Elston King and his wife, Pat, both of Destin, Fla., and Glen King and his wife, Dee, both of Houston, Texas; one brother, T.J. King and his wife, Louise, both of Nashville, Tenn.; a cousin Alene Walsh of Forest; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a number of friends.

Pallbearers were Jimmy King, Richard King, Bernard King, Roland King, Chuck King and Tony King. Honorary pallbearers were Bill King, Doug King, Chris King, Matt King, Davis Pace, also deacons of Rehobeth Baptist Church: Jerry Jones, John Watts, Charles Watts, Earl Ingle and Weldon Smith.
