Inducted into the International Space Hall of Fame in 1998. Her plaque reads: "First woman in the stratosphere. On October 23, 1934, Jeannette R. Piccard piloted a balloon to an altitude of 57,579 feet, becoming the first woman in the stratosphere. She also served as a consultant to NASA's Johnson Space center in Houston from 1964 to 1970."

She was ordained a deacon of the Episcopal Church in 1971, and on July 29, 1974, became one of the Philadelphia Eleven, the first women to be ordained priests.
