Death of Melchior Ditzler
Melchior Ditzler, a well-known resident of the northern end of Lancaster county, died at his residence in Elizabeth township, several miles north of Brickerville last Friday. He had been ill four weeks, suffering with heart failure and dropsy. Mr. Ditzler's age was 75 years and 4 days. He had six sons and one daughter with the first wife, one son having died. With his second wife he had ten children, nine of whom are living. The children with the first wife are as follows: Samuel and John, living in the West; Jesse, at Cornwall; William, at White Oak; Mrs. John Buchter, at Rexmont, and Harrison at Warwick. Of the children with the second wife is Mrs. John Moore, of Tamaqua, the other eight being unmarried and living at home. The funeral took place on Tuesday morning, when the remains were interred at St. John's Lutheran Church at Brickerville, Rev. M. Fernsler officiated.
