Howard Wolfe Carvell Sr., of 238 Duke St., died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 18, at Ephrata Hospital after a two-month illness.
He had resided in the Ephrata area all his life.
Last employed as a crossing guard for the Borough of Ephrata, he had also been employed as a night watchman for Science Press, Ephrata.
A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Carvell served in the European Theater. He was a member of the Fritztown Fire Company.
Born in Clay Township, he was a son of the late William D. and Alice Wolfe Carvell.
He is survived by a son, Howard W. Jr., Lititz; a daughter, Rose M., wife of Lavern W. Brubaker, Ephrata; one stepson, Charles E. Fry, Rothsville; and three stepdaughters: Mary J., wife of Howard Carvell, Lititz; Delores Fulmer, Lancaster; and Joyce A., wife of Elwood Eitnier, Brickerville.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday in the Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata, with interment in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
