Tippy was born to a stray cat who had wandered into my husband's shop to give birth. I brought her home in a box along with her sister who we named Susie. They were so dirty and covered in fleas but, after a good scrubbing, Tippy turned out to be a beautiful white kitten with a very long dark tail. She was so soft.

At about the age of three Tippy developed a sarcoma and, in order to save her life, she had a back leg amputated. After only a few weeks she was once again running , jumping, and playing like she always had. I don't believe she missed that leg a bit. She continued to live a good life for the next four years but one day we noticed her breathing seemed a little labored. The vet did a chest x-ray which showed that the cancer had returned and her chest was full of tumors. We sadly took her home and for the next few weeks we did everything we could to make her last days comfortable. She laid in the warm sunshine that she loved and ate Chicken-of-the-Sea tuna as often as she wanted. Finally it was time to let her go and on March 9, 2001 we took her back to the clinic and she peacefully went to sleep. She is buried in our back yard in the sunshine that she loved.
