Bella was such a unique cat. She was 6 months old
when I adopted her from a rescue on
Petfinder.com. It took a while for my other
cat Tulip to come to like Bella, but once she
did, they always played and snuggled together.
I'm sure Bella got on Tulip's nerves quite
often.Tulip let Bella know really quickly that
she was queen on the house. In December of 2006,
Bella came down with a very serious upper
respiratory infection. When I took her to the
vet, she was running a fever of 105.3 that did
not seem to want to go down, regardless of all
the fluids the doctors were pumping into Bella.
The doctor told me that he was not comfortable
with releasing Bella with a fever that high,
so he told me to take her to the Emergency
Vet. That I did and Bella stayed there for
about 4-5 days. She was finally released on
Christmas Eve. Even though the fever had been
controlled and had finally dropped, Bella was
not the same cat as before. All she wanted to
do was sleep and occasionally eat and use the
litter box. Come to find out, Bella has tested
positive for feline leukemia. The lady I bought
Bella from gave me paperwork staying she has
been tested for Fe-leuk and had tested negative.
According the Bella's doctor, who fought so
hard to give her a normal life, despite the
leukemia, he said there was no way if she had
been tested by this lady, that she could have
tested negative, considering she was only 1.
The remainder of Bella's life was spent giving
her antibiotics that she did not like and
putting ointment in her eyes. When I sat with
her the evening of February 1st, I could tell
that she was weak and getting worse and I knew
the time was coming where I needed to go ahead
and put her down. It looked to me that evening
that she was beginning to have problems walking.
So I left her in her bed, gave her food and water
and I went on to bed. The morning of February
2nd, she again ate for me but I again could tell
she was in pain and her eyes were very very
inflamed. I was sure at that time that she could
not see anymore. I cried and cried that morning b/c
I did not want to let her go, but I knew the time
was coming. I went on to work. My sister called me
about 11:30 and said that Bella had been sitting in
her bed crying, so she went and sat with her and
that is when she noticed that she was drooling from
the mouth. She gave Bella some water, which she did
try to drink, but she began choking a little bit.
Come to find out, that was b/c she was beginning to
not be able to swallow anymore. I came home,
stopping by Petsmart first, so I could talk with
Bella's doctor. He told me it was ok to go ahead
and put her down, so that she would not suffer
anymore. Making that decision was the hardest thing
I ever had to do. So, I came home, picked up Bella
and held her for about 2 hrs. She purred the entire
time. I told her that I was sorry she had been
suffering but that it was ok to go. She meowed
and talked to me during this time also. She knew
it was time and I think she was trying to tell
me it's ok Mom, put me out of my pain, I don't
want to suffer anymore. After my mom and sister
said goodbye to Bella, we wrapped her in her
favorite GA Bulldog fuzzy blanket and I took
her to Petsmart to be put down. She was so very
quiet on the ride over there ..... she knew it
was time. Dr Deaton came in, talked to her for
a little bit and then took her back to give
her a sedative. He came back, saying she was
now asleep and then administered the drugs
that stopped her heart. I cried and cried and
I think the doctor was about to cry as well.

pain, she would purr and purr and talk to you
as if nothing was ever wrong with her. I'm
going to miss you Bella, but now you are free
from any pain and I will see you again one day!

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow
Bridge because of it's many colors. Just this
side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of
meadows, hills and valleys with lush green
grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to
this place. There is always food and water and
warm spring weather. The old and frail animals
are young again. Those who are maimed are
made whole again . They play all day with
each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not
with the special person who loved them on
Earth. So, each day they run and play until
the day comes when one of them suddenly stops
playing and looks up. The nose twitches!
The ears are up! The eyes are strong!
And suddenly one runs from the group.
You've been seen. When you and your
special friend meet, you take him or her
into your arms and embrace. Your face is
kissed again and again and you look once
more into the eyes fo your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together,
never again to be seperated.
