Involved in numerous ministries, including parish ministry teaching at Saint Francis's Brothers School, at St. Lawrence as spiritual assistant to the Secular Franciscans, and as hospital and nursing home chaplain, Baldwin's greatest personal achievement was his own sobriety and using his recovery to benefit others. He became certified both as a social worker and as addictions counselor.

In 1994, the 82nd legislature of the State of Michigan honored Friar Baldwin for his years of service in the field of recovery.
