A native of Saint-Valentin, County of St. Jean, Quebec, Monsignor Louis-Philippe Perrier was ordained to the priesthood in 1896, upon finishing his studies at the Seminary of Montréal. Obtaining a doctorate in theology and canon law in Rome, back in Canada he served as professor at the Montreal College de Montréal, Montréal Seminary and the scholasticate St. Charles in Joliette. Parish priest of the Saint-Lambert and Saint-Enfant-Jésus Parishes in Montréal, he furthermore served as vicar general of the Archdiocese of Montréal. Appointed Apostolic Protonotary of His Holiness with the title of Monsignor, he donated to the Seminary of Saint-Jean in 1941, 5,000 volumes from his library, many of which were ancient books of great value. Monsignor Perrier died on April 16, 1947, at the Hôtel Dieu of Montréal and was buried in the crypt of the Marie-Reine-du-Monde Cathedral.
