Born in Saint-Grégoire-de-Nicolet, l'Abbé Nicolas Tolentin Hébert was ordained priest in Québec on October 13, 1833. Curate of Québec's Cathedral for seven years, he was named vicar of Saint-Pascal of Kamouraska and twelve years later curate of Saint-Louis in 1852. «Le Curé de la Basse-Ville» remains known to this day as a colonizer, who founded through the years Hébertville and Lac-Saint-Jean. In 1925, a monument was erected in his honour in Hébertville, which municipality carries his name.
