A native of Harbour Grace, Father Ronald Jones was ordained priest at Halifax on June 24, 1930. Working for sometime in Harbour Grace Diocese, he later moved to the Diocese of St. George's, being appointed the third parish priest of Lourdes in 1941. Several schools were built during his tenure, including the large elementary school at Lourdes. Suffering ill health in his later years, he died at Lourdes on November 19, 1952 and was buried in the local parish cemetery. A crypt was built atop his final resting place by a local mason named Michael Flaven.
