Born in Kamouraska, Quebec, Canada, to Jean-Baptiste Leclerc and his wife Henriette Lebel, M. l'Abbé Charles Antoine Leclerc was ordained to the priesthood in Quebec on March 2, 1882.

Successively, Leclerc was named vicar of Lotbinière in 1882, of Ste-Claire in 1884, of St-François de la Rivière du Sud in 1885, and of Fraseville in 1886.

In 1890, he was appointed curate of St-Aubert, where he remained until 1897, when he was transferred to Ile aux Grues. In 1899, he was named curate of St-Elzéar de Beauce.

Almoner of the Jésus-Marie convent, Leclerc was appointed curate of St-Édouard de Lotbinière in 1906, where he remained until his death, which occured at the parish rectory on Friday, November 1, 1918.
