Superior of the parish of Koudougou, vice-capitular of the Upper District of the Diocese of Koudougou, on March 15, 1966, then aged 49, he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Bishop of Ouahigouya, Burkina Faso, following the death of Bishop Louis-Marie-Joseph Durrieu M. Afr., and received his episcopal consecration in Vienna from Cardinal Franz König, assisted by Archbishop Franz Jáchym and Bishop Julius Angerhausen, on October 16, 1966.
In 1964, Tapsoba participated in the Grand Retreat held at Villa Cavalletti, Italy. He resigned from his see aged 68, on November 8, 1984. On January 21, 2000, he was named commander of the National Order of Burkina Faso.
Bishop Tapsoba died at the venerable age of 91, on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Ouagadougou. His body laid in state at Ouahigouya's Cathedral, where funeral Mass and interment took place on Monday, March 17.
