Velma was born in Smyth County, Virginia to the late Ruth Conley. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Riffey; three sisters, May, Hazel, & Nell; and three brothers, Bill Conley, Little Buck Conley & Little Junior Conley.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dundalk, Maryland, where she had resided for many years.
She is survived by three sons, two daughters, one brother, four sisters, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
