My dear mother.
Edna Jean was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and had trained at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. It was there she met and fell in love with her husband, Richard, to whom she was married over 50 years.
She was very active in the General Federation of Womens Clubs having served as the state president for Maryland. She also served as a Pastoral Associate for Towson Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed leading a Bible study group as well.
At the Glen Meadows Retirement facility where she lived in her later years, she served on many committees and was able to enjoy her beautiful plants, read mystery novels, attend college classes, and surround herself with her precious cats.
She had a love of travel and visited many countries in the world including Israel, Egypt, Canada, India, and most European nations. As a young girl, she was an excellent rider and taught many students how to ride and appreciate horses.
Some of her other loves were carnations, collecting art prints of sheep and rabbits, choral singing, and until her later years, spending summers in Garrett County, Maryland.
My favorite memory of my mother is her holding me in a rocking chair and singing beautiful songs to me from the WWII era. She always felt fortunate to have grown up during that time period.
She is loved and will be greatly missed until we meet again.
