Eugenie Gollin Leland was the fourth daughter of Belazeel and Elizabeth Gollin, born in Adelaide on 24 October 1864. There were nine children; Lilian Frances died aged 9 months in 1873 and is also on find-a-grave. Belazeel came originally from England.

Eugenie married Dr Abraham Lazarus (later Alfred Burnet Leland) in a society wedding on 8th June 1892; the event was reported in the Illustrated Sydney News. They moved to the UK and the family name was changed in 1903. She was involved in war work, providing clothing and food for the families of soldiers, both before and after the death of her eldest son Walter at Gallipoli. There were two other children: Neil and Dorothy.

Eugenie died in Kensington on 20 June 1948.
