The son of Henry Wolf and Julia Ann Matlick Wolf
(they show without the ending e in the 1870 census) -

Husband of Elizabeth Ann Menear, daughter of Payton and Mary Menear.
William married Elizabeth at the home of Henry, in late March of 1870. The census, taken on 30 June, shows him and Elizabeth, both age 20, in the household of Henry & Julia, Page # 40, Reno Township, Preston county, Post Office - Rowlesburg.
Henry & Julia died after the 1880 census, probably the Henry & Julia Wolf who died in Preston county (not verified).
Sisters of William were:
Harriet M. Wolfe Shafer, or Shaver,
Lovila A. Wolfe Halbritter,
and Rachel E. Wolfe Zinn.

These sisters' names are listed with the household for the 1850 census, plus two more, Mary J and Sarah E, and a Lucian Wolfe. William is not listed, the census was done on 23rd of September, five days before his birthdate.

William worked for the railroad.
The 1900 census lists "watchman".
(ED 108, Reno, Prc 1-3, Rowlesburg).

His death record was signed by Dr. Barrick Samuel Rankin, the informant was his son Charles. He was 74 ys,4mo,24 ds. The certificate was 2413, District 3921 (Kingwood), series 11. Burial on 23 Feb. 1925.
The surname is spelled with the ending "e" on this record - but the marriage record has it without the "e", as do some of the census lists.
