Ivylyn Camack Jordan Hardy, 91, of Bedford, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Oakwood Manor. She was born in Goochland County, Va., on February 3, 1917, daughter of the late, Ivy Stephen Jordan and Nannie Elizabeth Camack Jordan. She was a member of Otterville United Methodist Church and was retired from the Bedford County Public Schools. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, "Bedford Boy" John Burwell Schenk, who was killed on D-Day, June 6, 1944, on Omaha Beach; her second husband, Ralph Hall Hardy, husband of 61 years; and her brothers, William Franklin Jordan, Van Fisher Jordan, Ivy Stephen Jordan, Samuel Vernon Jordan and Joseph Duggan Jordan. Ivylyn is survived by [removed for privacy]. The family would like to give a special thanks to her many faithful caregivers at home, Oakwood Manor, Hospice and the friends that continued to visit her. She will be fondly remembered by all of "her children" through the Bedford County Public Schools and her church families. A celebration of Ivylyn's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Otterville United Methodist Church, 6524 Big Island Highway, Bedford with the Rev. Mark Wilkerson officiating.
