Sister Mary Hubert Vatterott, SSND, 87, of Chatawa, died June 10, 2001, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Prayer service is 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary of the Pines. The Mass of Resurrection is at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Chatawa Cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Sister Mary Hubert was born Rose Mary Vatterott Oct. 17, 1913, in St. Louis. She was the daughter of Margaret Harvey and Charles Vatterott
She took her vows as a School Sister of Notre Dame in 1934 and began a teaching career of 50 years. She taught all grades from kindergarten to high school in Missouri, Louisiana, and Texas.She spent 10 years teaching in Bogota, Columbia. In 1984, she retired to St. Mary of the Pines in Chatawa. For several years she tutored adults and children and taught religion classes. She was seventh of 11 children.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Riley, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
