Splash was born on August 15, 1989 at Marineland Ontario. Two years after his birth Splash was moved to Sea World California to make room at Marineland for two new whales. Splash suffered from epilepsy which most think was caused by his premature birth. While at Sea World California, Splash was playing with another whale and accidently rammed into a gate. He almost died but as a result of the accident Splash had to have all his teeth removed (orcas swallow food whole so it didn't really effect his eating habits). Ironically, his teeth were removed to prevent infection but on April 5, 2005 Splash died as a result of complications from a tooth infection. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed forever. A BIG thank you to Charles E. Edgerton, Sr. for sponsoring Splash's page. All my love goes out to you for it. Thank you again.

I loved Splash very very much. Next to Keiko (the whale from Free Willy) he was my favorite. When I dreamed of being a trainer he was the whale I saw. I keep my favorite picture of him next to me at all times. He is my guardian angel and even though he couldn't actually talk, he is the voice in my head telling me to keep going. I'll miss him everyday but I swore to him I'd dedicate my life to making sure the captive whales of the world were taken care of and I plan to make good on the promise. Rest in peace my sweet boy.
