Chewbaaka, a 16 year old male Cheetah died today, Sunday April 3, 2011. In February a rabid kudu** entered his enclosure at the Cheetah Conservation in Namibia. The injuries he sustained when he tried to take down the kudu, though not serious, proved to be too much for his aging body. Chewbaaka was raised since the age of 10 days by CCF's founder Laurie L. Marker. He was a very ill Cheetah cub, but he survived and was always known for his fighting spirit. Their connection lasted a lifetime.

**A kudu is a species of large African antelope. The males grow to have very large horns.
