Dr. Kuczynski of Bloomfield Hills, MI passed away on January 31, 2008.

Beloved wife of Edward for 52 years.
Loving mother of Yvonne Sesi (Joe), Ed, and Barbara.
Adoring grandmother of Eddie Kuczynski and Katie Sesi.
Sister of Irene and Stan.

Born in Wilno, Poland on February 20, 1929 and deported as a child to a Siberian labor camp near the Mongolian border by the Soviet Union during World War II. Released by the Soviets, her family fled to various refugee camps, eventually settling in Tanzania, Africa, where she completed high school. Subsequently she emigrated to England. She completed nursing school in Perth, Scotland, and midwifery training at The University of Leeds. She worked as a midwifery sister in Manchester and later in London. In 1957, June and her new husband crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the Queen Mary for life in the United States.

At Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the College of Education. She also attended and taught postgraduate courses at the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil.

Dr. Kuczynski was tenured faculty in the School of Nursing at Wayne State University where she taught and conducted research for almost 30 years. She was Chairperson of the Maternal Child Health Department for many years and later served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. She was elected by the faculty to serve on the Graduate Council of the University. Through the years she received many accolades and awards including The President's Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Cardinal Karol Wojtyla (the future Pope John Paul II) visited her home in 1977. She has been to the White House on numerous occasions.

Her warm smile and kind heart will be missed by family, friends and her dear students.

The family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd. (btwn Maple & Big Beaver), Troy, on Friday, Feb 1 between 3pm & 8pm. Rosary at 7pm.

The funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Feb 2 9:30am at The Shrine Chapel of Our Lady of Orchard Lake (at St. Mary's College), 3535 Indian Trail, Orchard Lake. Visitation begins at church 9am.
