Fort Bend Herald, January 20, 2009:

Georgia Vlasta Sbrusch, 96, of Beasley, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in Sealy. A funeral mass is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Beasley, with burial following in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. The Revs. Henry Rachunek and Eric Pitre officiate the services. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg.

Georgia was born Nov. 9, 1912, in Halletsville, to John and Sophia Chudej. She married Willie Sbrusch Oct. 26, 1935, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Beasley. Willie and Georgia lived almost all of their 73 year marriage on their farm in Beasley. She worked side-by-side with Willie in the office at the Fort Bend Tractor and Implement Company which they owned and operated for many years. She also worked at the Sugar Refinery in Sugar Land with three of her sisters, and for twenty-five years at Schaffer's Pharmacy in Rosenberg.

Georgia was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always there for her children and always did the very best she could to nurture her family. As a farmer's wife, she was always prepared for company. Her freezer and canning pantry were always stocked with kolaches, cookies, and homemade jellies and vegetables. Christmas and birthdays meant a gallon of their favorite cookies for each family member. She was never happier than when she had family over for a meal.

Georgia served thirteen years as a county 4-H leader teaching girls how to sew in workshops held during the summers at Needville High School. She also chaperoned trips and campouts for the county 4-H'ers and served as a food judge at the Fort Bend County Fair and Needville Youth Fair. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, St. Anne's Altar Society, and KJZT. She was a member of the church choir for many years.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophia Chudej; infant son, Robert Sbrusch; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Fagert; sisters, Emma Sykora, Willie Mae Pruess, Edith Webb, and twin, Henrietta Dobesh; and brother, Julius Chudej.

She is survived by her husband, Willie Sbrusch; daughter, Deanne Fagert and husband, Richard, of Sealy; son, Dennis Sbrusch and wife, Beverly, of Beasley; grandchildren, Bill Fagert of Beasley and friend, Karen Wilson, of West Columbia, Erin Moore and husband, Frank, of Sealy, Amy Sbrusch of East Bernard, and Matt Sbrusch of Burr and friend, Lacey Murphey, of Louise; great-grandchildren, Hayley and Katie Fagert of Sugar Land, and Chaplin Moore of Sealy; two sisters, Irene Raska of Wallis, and Sylvia Matheaus of Beasley; brother-in-law, Bennie Sbrusch and wife, Heather, of Rosenberg; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
