Clark Potter Beebe was born in Madison County, New York. He married his first wife in New York. They had one daughter, Amanda Beebe, born May 29, 1842 in New York.

Clark married his second wife, Mrs. Matilda S Cole Mitchell on November 02, 1848 in Pike County, Illinois. They had six children. Gerome Bonaparte Beebe, Sylorna Beebe (died as an infant), Jacob S Beebe, John Cole Beebe, Marcellus Clark Beebe, and Catherine Cadela Beebe.

Clark was mustered in to Co. K 99th Illinois Infantry Regiment on August 09, 1862 at Florence, Pike County, Illinois. He was killed in action on January 11, 1863 at Hartville, Wright County, Missouri. (Historical note. Union forces engaged and forced the retreat of Marmaduke's confederates at Hartville, Missouri on this date.) He was buried at Springfield National Cemetery, Greene County, Missouri.
