"...southern sympathizers were targets of every carpetbagger outlaw. On September 17, 1865, Alfred Ogilvie saddled his favorite horse and started up the road to conduct some business affairs. A shot rang out from bushes near the trail and Alfred fell dead. The horse returned home in a gallop....jumped the yard fence and came to a halt. The blood stains on the saddle gave family members a gruesome clue to what had happened. Alfred was buried in the family cemetery, just a few yards from his father and grandparents. His killer was never brought to justice." - "Ogilvie Kith and Kin", September 1983, pg. 3

Children: Mary Francis "Fanny", Overton Smith, Sarah "Sallie" Kinnard, Rufus Riggs, Ann Valeria, Alice
