"Here and there all over the neighborhood she was known as the "the good Samaritan." She worked at home and taught school to the little children in a little log schoolhouse down in grove....years went by and we moved from the old home to our little farm at Chapel Hill....she married Thomas Holt and moved to Nashville....then she came to live with us (after the death of Thomas). We lived on the Duck River...After mother and father died, we moved to Lewisburg and sister came with us" - taken from original diary, edited, of Frances' sister, Alice Ogilvie McLean.
