The body of Lee Siple, of Atchison, 55 years old was found on the Perry Higley farm, near Cumming Monday evening by Deputy Sheriff Anderson and a searching party of Cummings men. Osborne Nitz, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Summers, of Effingham, located Siple's body in a horse stall. The house on the Higley farm is vacant and the barn on the place has not been used for several years. Following an investigation it is believed Mr. Siple died from exposure and a heart ailment. According to Siple's family, the man had been in poor health the past three years. Mr. Siple disappeared from his home in Atchison, Friday afternoon. Mrs. Siple thought he had gone to Larkingburg to see his son Lyle Siple and a sister Mrs. Mabel Adcock. When he did not return Mrs. Siple asked officers to search for him. Residents of the Cummings neighorhood notified the sheriff's office that a man acting queerly had stopped at several places in the neighborhood Saturday. He was driving a 1927 Nash coupe, that was found a half mile from the Higley farm. Jesse Lee Siple was born May 12 1883 on a farm six miles north of Effingham. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Siple. His mother will be remembered as Mary Riley. In February, 1905, he married Miss Leona M. Nuzman, of Soldier. To them one son, Lee Siple was born who after the death of his mother was reared by his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Lee Adcock. March 8, 1928, Mr. Siple was united in marriage to Miss Blanche Wheeler of Holton, a sister of Mrs. Robt Fleming, formerly of Effingham, now of Atchison. Until about three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Siple lived southeast of Effingham, from where they moved to Atchison. Mr. Siple was a member of the Methodist church, a quiet refined gentleman, yet friendly and accommodating.
