JAMES THOMAS

A two car head-on crash took the life of a
former Frankfort youth Sunday evening.
James Thomas, 22 son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Thomas, Frankfort, Kansas died in the
Seneca hospital early Monday following the
accident.

Thomas attended grade school in Frankfort
and moved with his family to Seneca where
his mother was employed at the hospital.
The family recently moved back to Frankfort
and James had been employed by a construc-
tion company.

The fatal accident took place north of
Centralia on Highwasy 187, Thomas was
alone in a car headed south. Driviing
a car from the south was Jody Kuckelman
Axtell, Kansas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
accompanying him were Alan Feldkamp,
Baileyville, Kansas and Bruce Larkin, Bailey-
ville, kansas.

All three of the young men in this car are
hospitalized. Kuckelman who was driving,
was early thought to be the most seriously
injured with a possible brain concussion.
Larkin had a punctured chest, cuts to the
neck and arm. Feldkamp was believed to
have suffered minor injuries.

According to an article in the Seneca paper
it was understood that the accident happened
when Kuckelman, driving south, sought to
pass another car and his car and the Thomas
vehicle collided.

James is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Thomas, his sisters, Joyce, Mrs. Harold
E. Rethman, Houston, Texas, Janet Thomas,
Frankfort, Kansas, and brother, John Thomas,
Frankfort, Kansas, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Methodist
Church in Frankfort, Kansas.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas with Reverend Paul
Plummer officiating.
