The Soldier Clipper November 1938

Mrs. Sallie Nuzman was born April 24, 1856, at Middleton, Ky., and passed out of this life November 7, 1938, at home of her daughter, Mrs. C. A. White, near Soldier, at the age of 82 yrs., 6 months, 3 days. She was the daughter of John Milton and Nancy Butler Moberley and spent her early life in her native state. At the age of 16 she moved to Missouri and in 1878 to Kansas. Soon after moving to Missouri she was converted and baptized in the Missouri river, joining the Christen Church identifying herself in Kansas with that body in Circleville. She taught twelve terms of school in Jackson county. She was married November 20, 1889 to Lewis Nuzman, and lived on the home farm two miles west of Soldier until 1908, when they moved to town and in 1911 built the home where they resided the rest of their lives. Mr. Nuzman was taken from her by his death in 1926. Mrs. Nuzman united with the Soldier Methodist church, November 30, 1910 and she has been a most faithful member. For twenty eight years she was teacher of the Loyal Women's class.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Ruby White, she is survived by a son, Arthur Nuzman of Frankfort, nine grandchildren, five Great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Sue Wilkerson of New Castle, Colo., a brother, Leslie Moberley of Yakima, Washington. Six brothers and sisters have preceded her into the other life. Mrs. Nuzman was a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor, the friend to all, an earnest Christen---a woman who will be sadly missed by her host of friends.
The funeral was conducted November 9th in the Soldier Methodist church by her Pastor, Rev. George Engel, assisted
by Rev. Mayfield, Rev. Grant Hamm of Ontario--all old friends of Mrs. Nuzman. The music was by Mrs. Percy Geren, Mrs. Francis Kling, J. A. Sproul and Robert Markham, with Miss Esther Tolin, accompanying. The casket bearers were E. H. Venneberg, L. B. Tolin, George Michaels, J. J. Hrenchir, F.L. Franz, E.W. Nuzman, James Suter and Leonard Baertch. Interment was in the Soldier Cemetery.
