Robert Lee "RL" Chestnut, 65, died Saturday at the Brunswick hospital of the Southeast Georgia Health System.

A native of Brunswick, Mr. Chestnut was a 1960 graduate of Risley High School. He retired from the Capitol Police in Washington, D.C., after 20 years of service. Mr. Chestnut served as a U.S. Marshal in Brunswick for six years.

The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at the First Bryant Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Chestnut's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Wesley Chestnut; two sons, Iric L. Milledge of Severn, Md., and Rashad M. Chestnut of Brunswick; four brothers, Joseph Chestnut and Marvin Chestnut, both of Brunswick, Moses Chestnut Jr. of Mitchellville, Md., and Melvin Chestnut of Bronx, N.Y.; and three sisters, Mozella C. Armstrong of New York City, Iris C. Mitchell of Brandy Wine, Md., and Darlene Natson of Atlanta.

R.L. Jones & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
