Randall Lee "Randy" Gillum, 58, of Waldorf, Maryland, formerly of District Heights, Maryland, was called home to his eternal rest with God on May 19, 2013, after his two year battle with stage 4 colon cancer.

Randy was born on September 2, 1954 in Philippi, West Virginia, son of Athalie Ann (Louviere) Gillum.

Randy was a wonderful husband, son, father and brother who was always helpful and caring. At age 18, Randy was working at a local 7-Eleven, where he met Barbara, the love of his life. Later, Randy joined the United States Capitol Police Force in March of 1976. After completing his training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia, where he was chosen to receive the Distinguished Graduate Award in the summer of 1976, he and Barbara were married on August 13, 1977. Randy worked for the U.S. Capitol Police for 33 years. Once Randy retired in September of 2009, he spent time with his family by taking memorable trips, riding ATV's with Barbara, and working on his many craftsman projects as a gifted woodworker.

Randy is predeceased by his son, Eric Shay Gillum. Eric was born in 1981 and passed away after only 8 weeks, due to a fatal heart condition. God blessed Randy & Barbara with 2 additional children in October of 1982 and July of 1985.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Barbara Anne (Miller) Gillum; mother, Athalie Ann Gillum; children, Dana Nicole Gillum and Trevor Anthony Gillum; brother, Fred Gillum; and sisters, Debby Holder and Diane Simpson.

Family and friends will be received for Randy's Life Celebration on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland 20622. There will be a Service, here at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
