Leavenworth~~~~Burial arrangements are pending at Mount Muncie Cemetery here for Malcolm Melville Gray, 82 St. Petersburg, Fla., a former Topekan, who died March 1, at St. Peterburg, Fla.
He was born July 6, 1884 of Leavenworth, the son of James and Gretchen Gray. He attended public schools at Leavenworth and Baker University at Baldwin. He lived at Leavenworth until 1915 when he moved to Topeka. He lived in Topeka many years before he moved to St. Peterburg, Fla. in 1960.
He was Kansas representative of the Samuel Dodsworth Book Company from 1907 to 1915. He later was appointed secretary of the Kansas State Board of Administration by Gov. Arthur Capper and was reappointed by Gov. Henry J. Allen in 1924. He resiged in 1924.
Mr. Gary was appointed assistant state business manger by Gov. Clyde M Reed in 1932. He was appointed state supervisor of loans for Kansas and Colorado for the Field and Loan section of the U.S. Dept. of Agrlculture the same year.
He joined the advertising department of the Topeka State Journal in 1937. He was appointed supervisor of the dealers division of the State Motor Dept. by Gov Edward Arn in 1951.
He was a member of First Methodist Church in Topeka and Kappa Sigma social fraternity.
He was married to Gladys Nuzman of Circleville December 22, 1910. She died in August 1957.
Survivors include a son, Malcolm N. Gray, at home; and two grandchildren.
