Lee was a 1943 graduate of Malta McCollinsville, Ohio High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University in 1953. He was a Pilot in the United States Army AirCorp, having served during World War II.
He married the former Miss Doris G. Mosley on June 15, 1952 at Kiamichi, Oklahoma. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1957 from Oklahoma City. Through out his engineering career he built the Dalton Highway along the Pipeline in Alaska, working on dams, bridges and turnpikes from Oklahoma to Ohio for over five decades and served as the City Engineer for the City of Broken Arrow for twenty years. He loved his family, animals, tinkering on automobiles and traveling, especially to the Alaskan Frontier.
Funeral Services for LeEldon 'Lee' B. Cheffey have been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Church of Christ in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Dr. Bill Keele will officiate. Burial will follow at Park Grove Cemetery under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
