Junior L. Ackley was born August 28, 1928 in Riverton, Iowa the son of Harry and Pauline (Cowger) Ackley. Junior died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Veterans Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was 83 years of age.
Junior was a graduate of Ravenwood, Missouri High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. He married Joyce on May 2, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1955 from Wichita, having moved to Claremore in November 2010. Junior was an airplane mechanic for American Airlines, retiring after 29 plus years in 1984. He was a Deacon and Elder at the Church of Christ in Broken Arrow and volunteered at Hope Harbor Children's Home. He enjoyed fishing, working crossword puzzles, aviation and being with his grandkids.
He is survived by, Wife, two Sons, Daughter, four Grandchildren, Sister and husband, and Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Jean, Harriett, Shirley, Phyllis, and brothers, Dean, Keith, and Kenneth.
Funeral Services for Junior L. Ackley have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Church of Christ in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hope Harbor Children's Home, PO Box 1047, Claremore, OK 74018.
