Anna M. Morford, 93, of Emmett, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the St. Marys Manor in St. Marys.

She was born on December 21, 1916 at home, the daughter of Ed DeVader Sr. and Marie M. DeVader. She spent her entire life in the Emmett and Soldier communities. In the year of 2000, she moved to Redbud Assisted Living in Onaga, then in 2002 on to the St. Marys Manor.

Anna was a lifetime farm girl, excelling in cooking, quilting and gardening. She cooked school lunches in the Emmett School District from the early 50's thru 1965. The rest of her time was spent raising her family and helping her husband Ralph farm and raising cattle, horses and dogs.

She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and married Ralph Morford there on September 2, 1935. She cooked and cleaned house for the parish priest for several years. Anna was a dedicated member of the Holy Cross Alter Sodality and an active member in the Emmett Jolly Workers Club.

Mrs. Morford was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 1989, a son, two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include three brothers, Hank, Len and Donald DeVader, and a sister, Mary Kay (DeVader) Berberick. Other survivors include two daughters, Joanne Ward, Tahlequah, OK, and Jeannie Moylan, Emmett; a son, Don Morford, Holton; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 23, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Morford will lie in state from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys, where there will be a prayer vigil/rosary at 7:00 P.M.
