Hosea Bearden of Edwardsville, formerly of Marion, died at the Veterans Facility at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri at 10 am Sunday, July 21, 1940. Bearden was born in Marion on May 10, 1898 and at the time of his death was 42 years, 2 months and 11 days of age. He was a carpenter, working in the vicinity of Marion and West Frankfort until five years ago he moved to Edwardsville.
He was the son of Noah and Sula Moore Bearden. Besides his father, who lives at 803 South Bentley, he is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Mabel Murray of West Frankfort and one son Richard, 10 years old. Another son, Donald preceded him in death. The brothers and sisters who survive are Herman Bearden of Marion, Plezy Bearden of St. Louis, Oran Bearden of Bradenton, Florida and Miss Gail Bearden of Los Angeles, California.
The deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church in Edwardsville, and the pastor of that church will have charge of the services assisted by Reverends J.A. Musgrave and Troy Wheeler. Short services will be held at the home, and then the body will be brought to Marion where the American Legion will assist in military honors in services at the Marion First Baptist Church followed by interment at Maplewood cemetery.
