Funeral services for Alex P. Murray, who died Friday in Chicago, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Pulley funeral home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in a Mt. Vernon cemetery, beside his wife, who died 40 years ago.
Murray was for many years employed as a mine examiner and official at Orient No. 1 mine. He was born November 9, 1865, in Delmington, Scotland.
Surviving are a son, Hugh B. Murray, of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Wos of Florida and Mrs. Jean Malet of Hutchinson, Kan. Twelve grandchildren also survive.
Rev. Harold Malet, a son-in-law, a Presbyterian minister of Hutchinson, Kan., will be in charge of the rites.
Among the relatives attending funeral rites held in Mt. Vernon Wednesday afternoon for Alex Murray, 86, who died last Friday at Woodriver, were Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Cremer, Mrs. Harold Sinks. Mrs. Warren McCrary, Mrs Daily McGlasson, of this city. Miss Lillian Murray of St. Louis, Mrs Adam Murray and daughter Mrs. Wm. Harrell (sic) of Marion.
