On November 11, 1793 he married Margaret Ann "Peggy" McAlexander in Patrick County, Virginia. They had (at least) thirteen children together. Peggy passed away on September 16, 1830.
On September 17, 1830 Reuben married Elizabeth "Betsy" Gray in Patrick County. They then migrated to Jackson County, Missouri where Elizabeth helped Reuben finish raising his children with Peggy, as well as the (at least) five they had together.
