He was born to Nicholas and Vasso Ieromnimon in Cardemena on the Greek Island of Cos, on October 23, 1935. He married Carol LaRae Nuzman April 1960. She preceded him in death April 10, 1973.
He is survived by his sons, Nicholas and Michael of Salt Lake City; daughter Susan, now Mrs. Brock Staley of Minneapolis, MN; and mother-in-law, Mrs. Alta Nuzman of Salt Lake City; brothers-in-law Darold Nuzman, Salt Lake City; Edward Nuzman, New Jersey; three brothers and two sisters, Costa, Michael, Demetrios, Harekieia and Anna, all Cos.
At the time of his death, George was a teacher of mathematics at Granger High School. He also coached the Granger soccer team. He came to this country alone at the age of 19 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1959, and then earned a Master of Arts degree in Education from Tulane University.
George Ieromnimon was a gentleman, dignified and quiet, with no displays or pretenses. As a young man, he was a member of a Greek dance troop, performing at times before the King and Queen of Greece, and later in New York City. He was proud of his simple but good life and his accomplishment in it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew this quiet, pleasant man.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:30 a.m. at the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 5335 S. Highland Drive. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at the MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, where a prayer services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
