He was born July 14, 1885, west of Springfield, the son of Charles and Eunice Edwards Nation. He married Myrtle Friend in 1911 in Springfield, and she died in 1949. Two grandchildren also preceded him in death.
Mr. Nation had farmed in Oregon. He was a butcher, beginning his career at Rickter's Slaughter House in Andrew. He later worked at Mueller's Butcher Shop, Conner's Meat Market, Citizen's Market, Nation and Allen Market, Carmeny and Nation Meat and Grocery Store, Frank Kyle Frozen Food Locker and at the A&P store on Laurel.
Mr. Nation was a licensed real estate broker. He and his son-in-law developed the Verna Drive area in northwest Springfield.
Surviving are a son, George; three daughters, Verneita Boyd, Betty Lehmann and Verna Tate of Breese; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
