CARIBOU RIVER - Judy Anne: beloved wife, dear sister, cherished aunt, respected friend, and courageous warrior passed away on the 7th of January in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, at age 66, from cancer.
She was born in that same hospital on the 24th of July, 1944, and she graduated as a Registered Nurse at this same hospital in 1965.
She went on to practise nursing in Truro and then 13 years with the IWK hospital in Halifax. Her last nursing assignment was in the IWK Recovery Room. The IWK was a perfect fit: she loved kids and they loved her. She retired from nursing in 1979.
Judy Anne was the daughter of the late Jean Helen (Crooks) and the late Daniel McLean Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Edward Crandell of Caribou River, N.S., originally from Trenton, Ontario; and five sisters: Elsie (Baxter Ryan), Gladys (Douglas Lorimer), Linda (Hugh MacDonald) all from Trenton, N.S., Doris (Roger Dixon) of New Glasgow, N.S., and Eva (Harold Edwards) of Lower Sackville, N.S.; and three brothers, Ross (Veronica), Calgary, Alberta; Foster (Dorothy) Pictou Landing, N.S.; and Daniel (Susan), Chance Harbour.
Judy Anne was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor (Lawrence MacDonald) and two brothers, Robert and Johnny.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home in New Glasgow. There will be a private family interment.
In recent years, Judy enjoyed an annual migration south and long walks on the beach at Caribou River. Now, she enjoys re-uniting with her mom and dad, her sister, Eleanor and her brothers, Robert and Johnny.
A public celebration of Judy's life will take place on Tuesday the 11th of January at Summer Street Industries UCT facility on Park Street, New Glasgow from 3 to 5:30 p.m., friends and relatives welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy's name to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society. Condolences at : www.rhporter.ca
