Middletown, CT Press, 23 Oct 1992, article "100 years ago today":
"Olif Halberg's horse took fright at Robert Hal's Mill Wednesday [19 Oct 1892] at 5:20 p.m. and ran. While turning the corner in front of the Rich Medical company, the wagon was overturned, throwing Mr. Halberg on his face. He was picked up unconscious and Dr. Noteling was sent for. He ordered him to be sent home and Dr. Worthington and Parmelee were sent for, but they were too late, he having died soon after reaching this home. He regained consciousness for about five minutes soon after being hurt. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock."
Middletown Penny Press, 21 Oct 1892: "W. G. Spencer will attend the funeral of Olaf P. Hallberg in Middle Haddam district Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Hallberg, who was killed in East Hampton, formerly lived in town, and was very well known here. A brother of his is yet working in the quarry."
The same newspaper notes on 22 Oct 1892: "The funeral of Olaf Hallberg was held from his late residence on the Middle Haddam road this afternoon at 2 o'clock. There was quite a large attendance of his friends from this town at the services, which were conducted by the Rev. L. P. Ahlquist of the local Swedish Lutheran Church."
