Barbara (Mrs. Leo) Tynan, 70, a resident of 808 Ninth Ave., Charles City, died Thursday morning, Oct. 5, 2000, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, with Rev. Mark Anderson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call Sunday between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Barbara Jean Nelson Tynan, the daughter of D.B. Nelson and Mary (Hennings) Nelson, was born May 2, 1930, at Bassett. She attended school in Colwell. On Dec. 1, 1947, she married Leo Tynan at Austin, Minn. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Living family members include her husband, Leo, of Charles City; a son and his wife, Richard "Dick" and Diane Tynan of Charles City; two grandchildren, Richard Jr. and wife, Tonia Tynan, and Rachel Tynan; two great-grandchildren, Mercedes and Lexus Tynan; a brother and his wife, Glen and Pat Nelson, of Charles City; and three sisters, Nettie (Mrs. Harold) Vetter of St. Louis, Betty (Mrs. Bob) Watkins of Greene, and Delores Fike of Rudd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and an infant daughter.
