Born August 27, 1942, George Earl "The BBQ Man" Coleman, died February 2, 2011. Coleman was the founder and owner of Coleman BBQ for 38 years in his hometown of Clarksville.
Featured in the 2008 Texas Monthly magazine as one of "The Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas", Coleman built a successful business from scratch.
He leaves to carry on his legacy his wife of 46 years: Mrs. Ella Gean Coleman; daughter: Cassandra "Sandy" Coleman (John); son: Dewayne Coleman (Errica); god daughter: Jessica Coleman; four brothers: Bobby D. Coleman (Velma), James Coleman, Sr. (Ethel), Willie Ray Wilburn (Lois) and Raymond Owens; two sisters: Betty Coleman and Catherine Bell (Harry); five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Sunday, February 6, at the Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas. Wake services with public remarks were held Monday, February 7. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 8.
