WND: September 14, 1862 at South Mountain, MD
I. G. Bentley, an old resident of Bismarck, and who has lived on the Missouri slope for a number of years, died suddenly last night of heart disease. He has not been in good health for a long time. Last night after eating a light lunch, he rose from the table and walked to the door, where he fell, dying soon afterward. The death was a great shock to his wife, who was with him at the time. Word was at once sent to a son, who lives in the country, and arrangements for the funeral are awaiting his arrival in the city, which is expected today.
Mr. Bentley was formerly a resident of Emmons county, and for a number of years engaged in farming. He was known as an upright man, and a large circle of old friends will regret to learn of his death. He left a wife and several grown sons and daughters.
He was a member of the G. A. R. and the funeral arrangements will probably be made by that body.
